We joined nearly a half million participants and spectators at Saturday’s parade. What it lacked in size (relative to our days in San Francisco–where, to be fair, Pride tops 1.5 million) was thoroughly compensated by the stunningly sunny Stockholm day. Attendees swarmed the waterfront, including the Skeppsbron monument to King Gustav III. An enthusiastic group from my host university carried Queerolinska flags. Along with students, Stockholm’s queens, bears, politicians, police officers, diplomats, and chefs celebrated freedom of kärlek (love).
