Welcome to Sweden

SkyCityWe bid farewell to France and arrived in Stockholm late Tuesday evening. Descending over the city shortly before 10 PM, we caught the summer sun reflecting off our 737 and Lake Mälaren below.

Before making the 30-mile trek from Arlanda Airport to Stockholm, we rested up at the SkyCity Hotel tucked away in Terminal 2. It included one of my favorite Swedish hotel perks: personalized bedding. No fighting over the covers when you each have your own!

The brasserie was open late and featured a stimulating view of the hangar, plus all the köttbullar, lingonberries, pickles, and potatoes required to inaugurate a Swedish adventure.

Breakfast was also no disappointment, with plenty of strong coffee, spice buns, hard cheese, and three cured fish options. Stockholm, here we come…

For bean counters: thanks to an online deal, our night at SkyCity was just under $130. Meals extra.
